Abstract:
Cattle raising is a traditional occupation of Ha Giang farmers. In addition to providing traction and fertilizer for agriculture, cattle also provides meat, milk and other products with high economic values to meet the increasing demand of the society. With the advantage of relatively wide area, diverse topography and land resources, Ha Giang has advantages to develop a variety of crops of grasses for livestock. Cattle raising is considered as both a strength and a traditional profession and is gradually becoming the main occupation to create jobs, generate income contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction of people in Ha Giang. Therefore, Ha Giang has developed a project to raise a half of a million cattle in 2025, mainly bull and buffalo. To ensure the supply of food for large numbers of livestock, Ha Giang also plans to grow grass with an area of about 26,768 hectares by 2025. Based on the field survey and results of grassplanting for cattle in Ha Giang province, this study focuses on assessing land use status and the issue of grass field development for cattle in Ha Giang. Based on that, solutions for land use planning and grass planting development in Ha Giang Province will be proposed to ensure the supply of green food to a half of a million cattle by 2025 according to the project of livestock development of the province.
