Piroxicam is an oxycam-induced anti-inflammatory drug commonly prescribed for the treatment of arthritis, rheumatism... However, side effects in the gastrointestinal tract are very high, especially in peptic ulcer disease. Thus, piroxicam liposomes formulated by lipid film hydration method will reduce the side effects of piroxicam. There are many technical parameters that influence liposome formation such as spin speed, rotation time, lipid content, hydration temperature, and hydration time. Therefore, in order to establish the liposome preparation process, technical parameters during the preparation process were investigated to assess their effects and determine the appropriate preparation parameters. The results showed that liposomes which were stirred with high speed had small size and narrow distribution; ultrasound made the size smaller and the distribution narrower.
