Vietnam launches a campaign to respond to the World Creativity and Innovation Day 2026
The themes for the World Creativity and Innovation Day 2026 response are: "Innovation - Breakthrough Actions, Spreading Results" and "Innovation - Faster and Stronger Transformation to turn ideas into value and aspirations into reality".
April 21 each year has been designated by the United Nations as World Creativity and Innovation Day to promote the role of creativity in sustainable development.

In 2026, Vietnam continues to step up response activities with a focus on transforming ideas into practical value, contributing to improving productivity and growth quality.
Commemorating to World Creativity and Innovation Day 2026, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST) issued Official Dispatch No. 2341/BKHCN-DMST dated April 16, 2026, requesting ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and Government agencies; People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities; and Central mass organizations and associations to launch and provide guidance on organizing activities to respond to World Creativity and Innovation Day 2026.

World Creativity and Innovation Day aims to raise awareness about the role of creativity and innovation in socio-economic development, building a sustainable society, and promoting human development in all aspects.
Recently, the legal system on science, technology, and innovation (STI) in Vietnam has been fully and consistently issued by the National Assembly and the Government, in which innovation has been institutionalized as a national pillar, the framework conditions of the national innovation system have been established, and the national creative startup ecosystem continues to develop.
The purpose of organizing the annual response to the United Nations' World Creativity and Innovation Day is to propagate and disseminate information within the community and throughout society to join hands in promoting innovation activities; establish an innovation culture across society; promote the effective implementation and enforcement of mechanisms and policies on STI; encourage and mobilize social resources to promote innovation activities to solve major problems of ministries, sectors, and localities as well as practical problems in production and business towards the goal of fast and sustainable growth; promote the development of the national innovation system and the system of innovation centers, and strengthen the connection between the State - enterprises - institutes/universities - investors - community.

Ministry of Science and Technology proposes the contents to be implemented to respond to World Creativity and Innovation Day 2026, including:
Firstly, propagating and disseminating information about the purpose and significance of World Creativity and Innovation Day; implementing creative and multi-platform communication to spread and popularize the spirit of innovation throughout society;
Secondly, disseminating and thoroughly grasping throughout society the breakthrough lines, viewpoints, and policies of the Party and State on STI development;
Thirdly, organizing and launching the implementation of practical and meaningful activities and methods to enforce and promote innovation, associated with the performance of functions and tasks of each agency and unit, and the production, business, and service activities of enterprises and society as a whole;
Fourthly, promoting solutions to apply STI to solve practical problems of sectors, fields, and localities, helping to increase productivity and labor efficiency, develop the socio-economy, and improve the quality of life, etc.
