Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Prime Minister Robert Fico witnessed the exchange of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Commission for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ) and the Slovak Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing.

Among these, the MoU between the National Commission for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ) under the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Slovak Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing (UNMS SR) stands out as a specialized cooperation content of practical significance in the field of quality infrastructure.

The MoU establishes a comprehensive cooperation framework between the two national focal points for standards, metrology, and conformity assessment, based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit, and in accordance with the respective laws of each side.

The cooperation activities focus on the exchange of legal and technical information, sharing of professional data and documents, training and expert exchange, organization of workshops and scientific-technical projects, as well as enhancing coordination in conformity assessment, accreditation, and quality management.

For Slovakia, Vietnam is not only a dynamic partner in Southeast Asia but also an important gateway to strengthen connectivity with the ASEAN region. Conversely, Slovakia can serve as a useful partner for Vietnam in sharing institutional experiences, technical standards, technological innovation, and connecting with the European market.

Notably, the MoU does not stop at a general cooperation framework but aims for substantive connectivity between the two national quality infrastructure systems, contributing to the promotion of standards harmonization, enhancing technical compatibility, and facilitating the mutual recognition of testing results where appropriate.

Thereby, it contributes to minimizing unnecessary technical barriers to trade and supporting enterprises in participating more deeply in regional and global supply chains.

Furthermore, the two sides agreed to promote specific implementation mechanisms such as establishing joint working groups, increasing the exchange of information regarding accredited conformity assessment bodies, encouraging laboratories to participate in proficiency testing programs and inter-laboratory comparisons, and bolstering coordination within international organizations to which both sides are members.

The signing of the MoU between STAMEQ and UNMS SR witnessed by the two Prime Ministers not only demonstrates the trust and commitment to cooperation between the two Governments but also creates an important foundation for implementing in-depth professional cooperation activities, contributing to the enhancement of national quality infrastructure capacity, supporting international integration, and strengthening the competitiveness of the economy in the coming period./.
