Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui The Duy appointed as Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy has just been appointed by the Prime Minister as Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
According to the Government Electronic Information Portal, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recently signed Decision No. 72/QD-TTg regarding the mobilization and appointment of Mr. Bui The Duy, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, to the position of Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
The term of appointment is 5 years.
This decision takes effect from January 11, 2026.
Previously, on September 3, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 1886/QD-TTg to receive and appoint Mr. Tran Hong Thai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council, as Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
Thus, at present, the leadership of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology includes: President: Acad. Prof. Chau Van Minh; Standing Vice President: Prof. Dr. Tran Hong Thai; and Vice Presidents: Acad. Prof. Le Truong Giang, Prof. Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui The Duy.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui The Duy was born on May 9, 1978; native of Ha Tinh Province.
Qualifications: Associate Professor, PhD in Computer Science; Senior level in political theory.
Prior to April 2018, Mr. Bui The Duy held the positions of Director of the Vietnam Youth Academy under the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
On April 12, 2018, Mr. Bui The Duy was appointed Deputy Minister of Science and Technology under Decision No. 398/QD-TTg by the Prime Minister.
On January 30, 2021, at the 13th National Party Congress, Mr. Bui The Duy was elected as an alternate member of the 13th Party Central Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
On August 16, 2025, at the 1st Congress of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Science and Technology for the 2025-2030 term, Mr. Bui The Duy was designated to join the Executive Board and the Standing Committee of the Ministry's Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term./.
