The 2024 Science and Technology Press Award ceremony took place on the afternoon of October 24 at the Ministry of Science and Technology was an opportunity to honor excellent works, spread the spirit of innovation, and affirm the pioneering role of the press in the cause of national development.
On the afternoon of October 24 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology held the 2024 Science and Technology Press Award Ceremony. The ceremony awarded 24 journalistic works, including 4 first prizes, 5 second prizes, 5 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes.
Journalism - the companion of science and innovation
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Hang, Director of Vietnam Center for Science and Technology Communication, emphasized: The Science and Technology Press Award has been organized annually by the Ministry since 2012 to honor typical journalistic works reflecting scientific and technological activities, innovation and digital transformation. After more than 10 years of implementation, the Award has become a prestigious playground, contributing to spreading the spirit of research, creativity, and connecting scientists with community life.
In 2024, the Award received nearly 200 works from central and local press agencies. The entries were of high quality, vividly reflecting the process of applying science and technology to real life, bringing significant socio-economic effects. From the selection results, the Prize Council proposed the Ministry of Science and Technology to award 24 prizes, including 4 first prizes, 5 second prizes, 5 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes.
Director of Vietnam Center for Science and Technology Communication Nguyen Thi Hai Hang affirmed: Each work is a story about the passion and commitment of journalists with the mission of spreading scientific knowledge, encouraging the spirit of creativity, contributing to affirming the position of science and technology in the development of the country.
Promoting pioneering science and technology journalism in the digital age
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong congratulated the honored authors and groups of authors, and highly appreciated the role of the press in spreading scientific knowledge and promoting innovation.

The Deputy Minister emphasized: During the resistance war, the press was an ideological weapon, while science and technology was a material force that contributed to victory. Today, in the era of digital transformation, the press continues to be a pioneering force with science and technology to bring knowledge to the whole society, inspiring innovation in all fields.
The Press Award 2024 was held in the context of the Politburo Promulgating Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, identifying the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation as one of the strategic pillars for Vietnam to rise to become a developed country. According to the Deputy Minister, in order for the innovative ideas of the Resolution to spread widely, the press is the bridge between policy and practice, between laboratories and factories, between Vietnam and the world.
Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong affirmed that in the coming time, the Ministry of Science and Technology will continue to create favorable conditions for press agencies, from supporting the application of new technologies, providing official scientific data sources, to strengthening communication coordination, in order to build a modern scientific and technological press community. be creative, keep pace with digital transformation.
The scientific and technological press not only reflects achievements but also contributes to criticizing and perfecting policies, asking big questions for the whole society to find solutions. The success of the authors today is not only personal pride, but also the pride of the Vietnamese press, of the country's science and technology, the Deputy Minister emphasized.
Spreading the spirit of knowledge, arousing Vietnam's aspirations for creativity




At the ceremony, the representative of the group of authors who won the First Prize, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, reporter of VTC Digital Television emotionally shared the journey of making the documentary "Weapons to save lives", telling the story of the work "Research and application of modern dialysis techniques in emergency resuscitation of seriously ill patients and responding to a number of dangerous epidemics", which was awarded the State Prize for Science and Technology in 2017.
The work recreates the journey of research, application and success of Vietnamese medicine in saving the lives of thousands of patients every year - a testament to the profound human value of science.
The author shared: We set ourselves a difficult problem: how to combine the inherently “dry” science with humanistic emotions, so that the audience not only understands but also feels the value of science for life. And I am very happy that the film has touched the hearts of viewers.
The works honored at this year's Award once again affirm the role of the press in accompanying science, spreading knowledge and arousing creative aspirations. From laboratories to production areas, from research works to life, the imprint of journalists has contributed to bringing science and technology closer to the people, enriching confidence in Vietnamese wisdom./.
