Science and Technology are one key pillar of the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan and Indian Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh emphasized promoting science and technology cooperation between the two countries.

On the afternoon of May 6, 2026, in New Delhi, Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan had a working meeting with Dr. Jitendra Singh, Indian Minister of Science and Technology.

During the meeting, the two Ministers stressed that science and technology cooperation are one key area of ​​cooperations that has been affirmed by General Secretary and President To Lam and Prime Minister Modi as a priority at the high-level talks commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, especially in the context of both countries promoting digital transformation, knowledge-based economy development, and strategic technology sectors.

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in research and development of mutually beneficial deep-tech technologies, focusing on areas such as AI, semiconductors, biotechnology, and rare earth extraction.

Minister Vu Hai Quan proposed four key areas of cooperation:

First, exchanging researchers and experts in the fields of AI, semiconductors, biotechnology, and rare earth extraction;

Second, sharing experiences in developing basic research policies and commercializing technology;

Third, promoting joint funding for research;

Fourth, expanding the sharing of research infrastructure, laboratory systems, and cooperation on scientific integrity.

The two Ministers also agreed to maintain the mechanism of the Joint Committee on Science and Technology at the Deputy Minister level to promote the effective implementation of specific cooperation programs.

Each side will appoint a Deputy Minister to chair the meeting and a dedicated focal point to connect and monitor the implementation of the agreed contents./.
