On the afternoon of 23 March, the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology (under Vietnam Institute of Science, Technology Strategy) organized an artificial intelligence (AI) application training program for all officials, public employees. The initiative aims to enhance digital capacity and adapt to digital transformation requirements within scientific journalism.

This is a practical activity to concretize the orientation of applying science, technology, and innovation into press agency operations amidst the robust ongoing digital transformation.

Speaking at the program, Dr. Nguyen Thi Huong Giang, Vice President of the Vietnam Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy, Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology, emphasized that equipping staff with AI knowledge and skills is a vital task. This contributes to improving content quality, innovating journalistic methods, and strengthening public outreach in the digital age.

The training atmosphere was vibrant and enthusiastic, with active participation from a large number of officials, reporters, and editors.

During the training session, officials, reporters, and editors of the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology were introduced to an overview of AI development and application trends in journalism, communications, and scientific research by AI experts from the Trevi Education Academy.

Building on that foundation, the program delved into practical skills, particularly the construction of effective prompts to maximize the capabilities of AI tools.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuyen, Director of Trevi Education AI Training Academy, provided step-by-step guidance on crafting prompts using scientific methods such as 5W1H, as well as defining roles, goals, context, and output formats when interacting with AI.

Numerous specific examples were presented, ranging from requesting AI to write news articles and summarize scientific documents to supporting the development of research outlines - helping trainees easily visualize and apply these techniques to their professional tasks.

Throughout the training, many participants proactively raised questions regarding specific scenarios, such as how to verify the accuracy of AI-generated information, how to avoid over-reliance on AI, and methods for utilizing AI while ensuring journalistic standards and ethics.

The program was directly instructed and moderated by Mr. Nguyen Van Tuyen, Director of the Trevi Education.

Addressing these concerns, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuyen spoke candidly, emphasizing that AI is a supporting tool and cannot replace the role of a journalist. The use of AI must be coupled with critical thinking, information verification, and strict compliance with legal regulations and professional ethics.

He also shared practical experience in optimizing prompts to enhance content quality and reduce task processing time.

Additionally, the program allocated time for trainees to practice directly on AI platforms, experimenting with news writing, content editing, and communication script building. Consequently, many officials and reporters began to grasp how to utilize AI as an effective "digital assistant" in their specialized activities.

Through this training activity, the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology aims to build a workforce capable of mastering technology, gradually forming a modern digital newsroom model that meets the development requirements of scientific journalism in the new era./.
