Minister Nguyen Manh Hung: “The Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology needs to be placed back under the Ministry”
Regarding science and technology journals, the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology holds a leading position; therefore, bringing the Journal back to be directly under the Ministry is necessary to elevate its role.
At the Conference to review the 2025 performance and deploy tasks for 2026 of the Science, Strategy, International Cooperation, and Legal Affairs Block on 20 December, Minister of Science and Technology (MST) Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized the requirement to “bring the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology back to be directly under the Ministry”.
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed that each Ministry needs to have one newspaper and one journal. Regarding science and technology journals, the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology holds a leading position; therefore, bringing the Journal back to be directly under the Ministry is necessary to elevate its role.
Simultaneously, the Minister requested a renewal of the Journal’s operations, shifting from merely publishing research results to disseminating and transforming knowledge to serve policy-making, innovation, and technological development. The Minister also called for expanding the target audience to include managers, policy-makers, and technology enterprises.
In tandem, the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology needs to innovate its article types, producing strategic overviews, policy analyses, and science and technology forecasts, while connecting research with the market and providing translated articles on international experiences. Furthermore, the role of the editorial board and the methods of evaluating the Journal must be implemented with a knowledge-oriented focus, emphasizing the practical application of articles in policies, strategic projects, and business practices.
The attention and direct guidance of Minister Nguyen Manh Hung serve as the driving force for the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology to achieve breakthroughs and comprehensive innovation in 2026./.
